All About Texas

Explore the events, symbols, conflicts, and traditions that shaped Texas. The All About Texas collection gives students in Grades 3 through 8 nonfiction on the Texas flag pledge, state song, Freedom Week, Texas Rangers, Spindletop oil boom, Fiesta San Antonio, San Jacinto Day, and the six flags that have flown over the state.

Other titles examine the Galveston Hurricane of 1900, Council House Fight, Santa Fe Expedition, and Cordova Rebellion. Each book places a topic within the story of Texas history. Readers can connect civic symbols with state identity, study major turning points, and examine how conflict, migration, government, industry, and public memory changed Texas. The collection supports Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills lessons, US history links, research tasks, and classroom discussion.

Teachers, librarians, and homeschool families can select individual books for targeted units or combine titles to give students a view of the people and events that formed Texas.
